When country was country

pat1947100

Along with Four in the Morning by Faron Young, probably the two greatest country songs ever,

Corey King

Country music is dead, much like these legends that kept it alive for so long. What they try to pass off as country today is disgraceful and a abomination.

M1Anut

When blood pressure meds don't work listening to this will do the trick.

Grand Wonder

Gotta be one of the best of all songs of all time in country music. Also have a fun story a group of old timers i know took off to check it out after a long night of whiskey on their bikes only to find this town aint much to write home about which is exactly why they wrote this song

Leslie Problemchild

My 1980's good place

Not big on country music, but you’re a full blown commie if you don’t appreciate this as an anthem for country music.

Bob leroy

The only two things in life that make it worth livin'
Is guitars that tune good and firm feelin' women
I don't need my name in the marquee lights
I got my song and I got you with me tonight
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love

Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas
With Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin'
Got us feuding like the Hatfields and McCoys
Between Hank Williams' pain songs and
Newbury's train songs and "Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain"
Out in Luckenbach, Texas ain't nobody feelin' no pain

So baby, let's sell your diamond ring
Buy some boots and faded jeans and go away
This coat and tie is choking me
In your high society, you cry all day
We've been so busy keepin' up with the Jones
Four car garage and we're still building on
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love

Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas
With Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin' got us feudin'
Like the Hatfield and McCoys
Between Hank Williams' pain songs and
Newbury's train songs and "Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain"
Out in Luckenbach, Texas ain't nobody feelin' no pain

Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas
Willie and Waylon and the boys
This successful life we're livin's got us feudin'
Like the Hatfield and McCoys
Between Hank Williams' pain songs
And Jerry Jeff's train songs and "Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain"
Out in Luckenbach, Texas there ain't nobody feelin' no pain

This was my generation of music. This song sure brings back memories. I felt sorry for Waylon Jennings. I read that throughout his life he always regretted the Buddy Holly Plane crash. That must have been a tough thing to live with. Hopefully he’s at peace now.
